In Cape Verde, sport fishing can be practiced almost all year round. In January and February the wind is often strong, but the rest of the year this archipelago offers excellent fishing conditions.
Cape Verde is known to be the best fishing spot in the world for Atlantic blue marlin. This predatory fish lives in these waters all year round, but the best time to catch it is from mid-March to the end of June. In September and October there are far fewer specimens but those caught are much larger.
The outlet of the canal between Santo Antão and São Vicente is a very well-known spot for “marlin” among international fishermen and whose reputation is second to none.
